Does insurance cover sessions?

I am an in-network provider for Premera BC and some out-of-state Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans, as long as it can be billed through Premera. Otherwise, I mostly offer sessions on a private-pay basis rather than billing insurance. This allows me to focus on your family’s goals without structuring our work around an insurance diagnosis or the limitations of insurance-covered treatment (this happens primarily with family therapy, parent coaching, and couples therapy).

My session rates are listed with services offered on the “Therapy” page. I can provide a “superbill” (a receipt with my information for you to use to request partial reimbursement, depending on what your health plan covers) when appropriate. However, out-of-network benefits vary from plan to plan and reimbursement is not guaranteed. Please confirm your out-of-network benefits with your insurer if you would like to use them.

Clients can make payments, view statements, invoices, and superbills, through the SimplePractice Client Portal. *If you need to cancel your appointment, please allow for at least 48 hours’ notice, otherwise a cancellation fee of the cost of the session may be applied.

I do not bill health insurance for private-pay sessions. You are responsible for payment for services you receive. Under the federal No Surprises Act, individuals who are uninsured or choose not to use insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs of health care services.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate. If you schedule a service at least 3 business days in advance, you generally have the right to receive an estimate within the applicable federal deadline. You may also request an estimate at any time. Your estimate will describe the expected charges for the services included in it. It is not a bill, and actual services or costs may differ from the estimate.

If your final bill from me is at least $400 more than my Good Faith Estimate for the services covered by that estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. To request a Good Faith Estimate or ask questions about expected costs, please contact me at therapeuticdesign@outlook.com and title your message “Good Faith Estimate.”

How do I sign documents?

Clients can securely message me through the SimplePractice Client Portal, view and sign intake paperwork there.

Where are you located?

All appointments are currently held online via SimplePractice. After booking a session, new clients will be sent an email invite from SimplePractice to access their new ClientPortal. Clients can access sessions securely from the SimplePractice video app, which is free and easy to download.
